Confused about Social Responsibility?

Or should that be Corporate Social Responsibility? Or Sustainability? What's Community Involvement? Or your Social Footprint?

You've probably found that there are as many definitions of this...thing... as there are hits for CSR on Google!

Don't worry. Basically a lot of it boils down to good business common sense, making sure that you are not only running your business well now, but planning for its future, in the widest possible context.

Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR covers a wide range of issues that affect your business, from good financial practices, good management of environmental impact, through to the "social" responsibility part where it concerns impact on people, those whom you employ and those in the community around you.

It is in the area of Social Responsibility that Miles Hogarth Limited operates.

I like the to use the Social Footprint idea - the analogy with your Company's Carbon Footprint is quite appropriate.

What's your impact on the community/ies where your buildings are located?

What impact are you having on the lives of your employees?

Many companies recognise that their long-term future depends on making that impact a positive one. But how do you measure your impact? How do you make improvements?

That's where Miles Hogarth Limited comes into the picture.

I'm Caroline Hogarth, and I was fortunate to build up my practical CSR experience with an international blue-chip company (and Business in the Community Big Tick winner) over a number of years before deciding to set up Miles Hogarth Limited.

I specialise in helping firms which want to have an excellent profile with their local community, but need to be able to see and measure some hard business benefits from their community-focussed efforts.

Miles Hogarth Ltd can also help in establishing policies and procedures to optimise impact on your employees - that elusive Work-Life Balance. Examples include Flexible Working, Stress Risk Reviews, and Change Management at the level where it most affects people.

Want to find out more about how your company could set up and run a cost-effective, reputation enhancing Community Involvement strategy?

I've written a set of free tips to get you started. Just complete the simple form below.

Please feel free to contact me on 01827 895326 if you need more information or would like to discuss how Miles Hogarth Ltd could help you make sure your social footprints are light and carefully placed, not giant-size craters!

“The Government aims to transform CSR from being
seen as an ‘add-on’ to being a core part of business
practice for more and more organisations. It is not
a luxury that only large companies can afford, but
something that firms of all sizes can participate in
– for their own benefit as well as for the benefit of
others. ”
. Stephen
Timms MP, Minister for Energy, e-commerce and Postal
Services
